Fire Cider Recipe for Spring Wellness

Fire cider is a traditional remedy that has been used for centuries to promote health and well-being. It is a potent combination of herbs, spices, and other ingredients that are steeped in vinegar for several weeks. Fire cider can help support immune function, promote digestion, and boost energy levels. Here is a recipe for fire cider that is specifically designed to balance Kapha during spring:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup fresh horseradish root, grated

  • 1/2 cup fresh ginger root, grated

  • 1/2 cup fresh turmeric root, grated

  • 1/2 large onion, chopped

  • 5 cloves garlic, chopped

  • 1-2 cinnamon sticks

  • 0.5-1 teaspoons cayenne pepper

  • 0.5-1 tablespoons raw honey

  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar

Directions:

  1. Combine all the grated roots, chopped onion, garlic, cinnamon sticks, and cayenne pepper in a large glass jar.

  2. Pour the apple cider vinegar over the ingredients, making sure they are fully covered.

  3. Stir in the raw honey.

  4. Cover the jar tightly with a lid and shake well.

  5. Store the jar in a cool, dark place for 3-4 weeks, shaking it every day or two.

  6. After 3-4 weeks, strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth.

  7. Transfer the liquid to a clean glass jar and discard the solids.

  8. Store the fire cider in the refrigerator and take 1/2-1 tablespoons daily.

Fire cider is a powerful remedy that can help to stimulate digestion, support immune function, and boost energy levels. It is a great way to balance Kapha during spring, when the weather is often damp and cool. You can also use fire cider as a dressing for salads, a marinade, or as a flavouring for soups and stews. Give this recipe a try and see how it supports your health and well-being this spring.
